Sum 41’s metal influenced, pop punk hit “Fat Lip / Pain For Pleasure" is jam packed with a variety of techniques, riffs and chords that players of any level can learn from! The main part of the song will benefit guitarists looking to learn fast power chord sequences (with drop D tuning) and is a great example of how two different chord parts can create uplifting melodies. The second, 'bonus' song in the video is a short and fast ode to old school heavy metal. It’s made up of simple barred chords and intertwining lead parts across two guitars. This is a perfect starting point for any guitarists who are looking to write their own lead lines or solos within the punk/metal genre. So, whether you are looking to improve your palm muting, quick riff picking or even stage jumping, this tutorial is for you! Note: this lesson requires re-tuning

This bubblegum punk song is great fun to play along to for both advanced and beginner guitarists! Once again, there is a great range of techniques that can be easily picked up from this tutorial including simple string bends and muted string picking. The tutorial even includes the short guitar solo that is made up entirely of rapid pull-offs. This is an excellent example of how a guitar solo can sound difficult to play, but in reality, it is fairly straight forward to learn. Another fun tutorial to play along to with a band or friend as both rhythm and lead parts are displayed!
