A great piano tutorial for intermediate and advanced players alike, The Duke takes you through this song step by step in his own relaxed and unique way. He starts out by focusing on the basic chord progressions and shapes that provide the foundations of the track. The Duke is a natural teacher. As well as showing you how to play the song he also gives you an insight into the music which influences the way in which he plays it. The song itself has a bouncy, ragtime feel which is fun to play if you're confident with use of the sustain pedal and creating harmonies between the left and right hands. For any novice players out there he also takes time to show you a more broken down, simplified version of the part and illustrates how - as your confidence and skill grows - you can build up to the full part heard on the recording. This lesson also has an interesting and unique bonus feature where the Duke takes you through his use of old gramophone records which he incorporates to create an added texture and ambience both in his recordings and live performances - he explains how they can be used to add personality to performances and even talks about how to use and maintain old gramophones

Anyone remotely interested in percussion can't afford to miss this one. Chip Bailey (Temperance Society Chip Bailey to you) teaches you how to play the 'stump fiddle', which is arguably the most bizarre instrument you'll ever set your eyes on. The simplicity of the stump fiddle makes it easy to make your own - Chip even tells you how you could make your own, or where you could buy one if you're not the DIY type. Even if you're not interesting in taking up the stump fiddle, Chip's eccentricity and love for percussion makes this a hugely entertaining video in it's own right. In terms of difficulty, this tutorial is accessible to anyone as most of the rhythm is improvised - the techniques Chip teaches are just suggestions. Another nice touch in this tutorial is a small but insightful lesson in using a cheese grater as a percussion instrument. Chip takes you through the common 'cheese grater rudiments' that anyone new to the instrument should know.

Another one of these unmissable, ever-eclectic Duke Special lessons, this tutorial encourages drummers to diversify their kit to introduce some more interesting sounds, which include wooden frogs, pedal tambourines and a 28-inch military bass drum in Chip's case. Not only is Chip an extremely talented and inventive percussionist, but he is also a very helpful and entertaining teacher, explaining every aspect of his drumming style, as well as some simpler basic techniques for people new to drumming. The song itself is built around a simple loop with not many fills, but Chip explains a lot of different techniques and encourages you to take what you've learned and adapt it to really make it your own. There is also a special bonus feature in this tutorial in which Chip demonstrates how to use a 'cajon', which is a Mexican percussion instrument generally used by Chip and The Duke for small acoustic gigs and radio sets.
