Title
The Autumns present their guitar tutorial for Cattleya, a creatively adventurous song full of unusual chord shapes and intertwining guitar parts. The tutorial is a great resource for anyone trying to learn about polyphonic composition (The use of several different notes – or – melodies to create one overall texture of effect) as it illustrates how it can be used to amazing effect within the context of the song. The guys break down all 3 guitar parts for each section of the song as well as giving a good deal of background information about their inspiration behind it's meaning. This tutorial would also suit those who are keen to learn about complimentary picked melodies as they demonstrate each part separately and also with each other. To complete the tutorial, we are treated to a live play through performance from The Autumns themselves.

This song from the Autumns is an excellent example how polyphony can be used in a guitar composition. Included in the lesson are three guitar parts that you can learn, each playing a different melody and even using different tuning as two guitars re-tune to D-A-D-G-A-D and the other tunes to D-A-D-G-B-D. Each of these parts are broken down into their separate elements in order for you to learn them easily along with a unique insight into some of their experimental techniques such as using a screwdriver as a slide! The tutorial culminates with all three parts being performed together by The Autumns in a haunting acoustic performance that is both challenging to learn and satisfying to play along with!

The Autumns take you through all 3 (yes 3!) guitar parts to the song "Slumberdoll", taken from their 2004 self-titled album. There's a lot packed into this lesson, with detailed breakdown and explanations of all the guitar parts and for anyone interested in alternate turnings, the band illustrate how they use both drop d and d-a-d-g-a-d tuning to create original and exciting textures within the song. The band use a range of weird and wonderful chords positions (Many of these directly linked to the alternative tunings mentioned above), as well as many varied picking parts. This is a great tutorial for the intermediate players out there who will enjoy the challenge of mastering all the guitar parts as well as learning some new chords you may not have encountered before. Nail all 3 sections and have a go at the playthrough. It’s a challenge!

Title
Another extremely impressive 3 guitar tutorial from the inspiring Autumns, one which the more advanced guitarists and song writers out there will find particularly useful. This is a great example of a track where the music has been written to compliment the vocal melody. The result is an incredibly delicate picking pattern that naturally evolves into a multi guitar picking part, which in turn brings in a heavy epic ending. The various picked lines are mostly played high up the fret board and on the three high strings of the guitar, so there is plenty to learn from in terms of picking accuracy and fret changes. In addition, the boys demonstrate techniques such as natural harmonics, string bends and slides in detail. A great, challenging tutorial to play along to with a friend or three, as there’s plenty of great parts to go around!
