The guitar parts to this energetic track are nice and varied, with techniques ranging from power chords to delay-infused lead picking parts. Throughout the song there is an interesting rhythmic aspect as the guitar intertwines with all of the other instruments. This would be a great lesson for guitarists who’ve got the basics nailed and are wondering what techniques to learn next – there’s loads in here providing plenty of material to keep you going.

Peter, the bassist and frontman of indie-pop band Palladium, gives you a detailed break down of the bass part to this infectious song, in which rhythm is an integral element in all of the instrumental parts. It’s rare to find a front man that plays bass, this alone gives a unique element to the tutorial as Peter shares with you the challenges of being both singer (with vocals as the top melody) and bass player (With the bass line as the bottom melody) and how he combines both roles. It’s also inspirational to learn from a tutor who’s an immensely accomplished musician with technical skill as well as passion. All in all he makes for a natural teacher and explains the song section-by-section, with play-throughs for each part so you can play along as you learn. There’s also plenty of general info on technique and scales that you will find useful regardless of what style or genre you’re into.
NOTE: This lesson is demonstrated on a 5-string bass, but the extra string is not used and therefore it is easy to adapt it for a 4-string bass, simply by ignoring the lowest string.

Despite the basic rhythms being really accessible to the beginner, many of the fills he uses will provide a challenge to more advanced drummers.
Don't be fooled by Rocky's jokey and light hearted approach as this is a seriously accomplished drummer - Someone who made a living as a session player before hanging up his session hat to play in his own band. Overall, this is a highly entertaining tutorial from a great musician.
